Notes:

  1. 1-S Manholes are NOT prebenched.
  2. Non-standard hole sizes and angle entry holes available.
  3. Standard depth of cover is 5m.
  4. Use intermediate sections between top and bottom sections of 1-S manhole to meet drop manhole invert requirements.
  5. Where design invert rim to invert is less than the minimum shown, the City of Calgary requires a complete top and bottom be used, in which case it must be lowered and field benched to invert. Elsewhere, a top half 1-S plus a base slab may be used, subject to approval by project engineer.
  6. Type 1-S skimming manholes with formed channels available in all sizes.
  7. Kent Seal gasket is available for Type 1S manhole joints but is very dependent on field installation. Additional measures by contractor may be needed if a watertight joint is required.
  8. Top and bottom half walls taper from the thickest point at the top/base slab to the centre (dimension 'E'). This may affect mounting of equipment, gates, etc.
