Precast
concrete box sections are designed
to meet job specific requirements and are
manufactured under factory controlled conditions
employing the latest in dry cast manufacturing
technology. They may be used for the construction
of culverts, retention tanks, vertical vaults,
utility corridors and for the conveyance
of storm water, industrial waste and sanitary
sewage. Precast concrete
box sections are the logical solution to
problems of restricted head room, minimum
cover, limited trench width or excessive
over fills, and can be designed for lacking
under roads without traffic interruption.
Design
Designs
are in accordance with ASTM C1433
using BOXCAR, an extension
of the programs used for the development
of AASHTO standards
M259 and M273 which
the ASTM standards are
based on. Designs for HIS Series highway
traffic loads, Cooper E Series railway loading,
or other live loads may be accommodated
upon request.
Connection
Precast
reinforced concrete box sections are produced
with bell and spigot ends. A butyl rubber
based compound, such as Rub-r-Nek
or Ram-nek, can be used
on the joint but does not provide a waterproof
joint. Water proofing compounds may
be applied by the Contractor in the field.
